Heaven's Health Care Plan

Healthful Living

reprinted from Testimonies Vol 6 p. 370

"Since the laws of nature are the laws of God, it is plainly our duty to give these laws careful study. We should study their requirements in regard to our own bodies and conform to them. Ignorance in these things is sin. The subject of health reform has been presented in the churches; but the light has not been heartily received. The selfish, health-destroying indulgences of men and women have counteracted the influence of the message that is to prepare a people for the great day of God. If the churches expect strength, they must live the truth which God has given them. If the members of our churches disregard the light on this subject, they will reap the sure result in both spiritual and physical degeneracy. And the influence of these older church members will leaven those newly come to the faith. The Lord does not now work to bring many souls into the truth, because of the church members who have never been converted and those who were once converted but who have backslidden. What influence would these unconsecrated members have on new converts? Would they not make of no effect the God-given message which His people are to bear?" 6T 370.3

Many are suffering, and many are going into the grave, because of the indulgence of appetite. They eat what suits their perverted taste, thus weakening the digestive organs and injuring their power to assimilate the food that is to sustain life. This brings on acute disease, and too often death follows. The delicate organism of the body is worn out by the suicidal practices of those who ought to know better. The churches should be stanch and true to the light which God has given. Each member should work intelligently to put away from his life practice every perverted appetite.

Chocolate, Cheese, Meat, and Sugar - Physically Addictive Foods

Healthful Living

Neal Barnard MD discusses the science behind food additions. Willpower is not to blame: chocolate, cheese, meat, and sugar release opiate-like substances. Dr. Barnard also discusses how industry, aided by government, exploits these natural cravings, pushing us to eat more and more unhealthy foods. A plant-based (vegan) diet is the solution to avoid many of these problems. Neal Barnard is the founder of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).

Health Evangelism & Medical Missionary Training

Healthful Living

There is a special work that each church is called upon to do. “We have come to a time when every member of the church should take hold of medical missionary work.” Call to Medical Evangelism and Health Education, Ellen G. White, p. 10

Purpose of Training Course:

This course of study is designed to serve as an important aid in instructing church members in their personal responsibility to embrace the complete message of restoration through Christ, and to share the joy of salvation by ministering to human needs through this particular avenue of missionary service.

Therefore this course of study will help equip each individual with the knowledge and principles of healthful living. In addition to knowledge, each participant will understand the basic principles for conducting health educational programs for the community.

Medical missionary work used in its right relationship to the gospel is the means that the church is to employ. The objective of this class is to awaken a sense of need in the realm of the spiritual, to stir inquiry and cause men to seek for the words of eternal life.

Duration of Training Course:

The first phase of the course is design to introduce the attendees to the Medical Missionary Evangelism. This first phase course will be on December 7-13, 2009. The class will be led out by Bert D. Leverett, Cristina Montero, and other trained professionals at the Covina SDA Church 2003 E. Cienega Ave Covina, CA.

“The true medical missionary will be wise in the treatment of the sick, using the remedies that nature provides. And then he will look to Christ as the true healer of diseases. The principles of health reform brought into the life of the patient, the use of nature's remedies, and the cooperation of divine agencies in behalf of the suffering, will bring success.”

“I am instructed to say that in our educational work there is to be no compromise in order to meet the world's standards. God's commandment-keeping people are not to unite with the world to carry various lines of work according to worldly plans and worldly wisdom.” RH, March 6, 1913 par. 2 (To Loma Linda Medical School)

The seminar will revolve around 12 sessions including:
