Practical Country Living Skills and the Third Angel’s Message

Country Outpost Info.

1. What kind of industries, are controlled by the Papacy? Revelation 18:3, 10-13

Country Living Workshop

These industries deal in commodities, that almost all nations of the earth make use of. Notice that these commodities have one very important thing in common. They are primarily produced from the earth. Out of the 28 commodities listed, 15 of them have to do with agriculture. That is more than half the list. If you are wondering what the “purple” industry is, the Greek word is “porphura”. It means a “garment”, dyed with the color purple. The implication is the “garment” that is dyed purple. And what is the garment dyed purple made of? It is the “linen” listed before the purple. “Linen” is made from flax, which is an agricultural product. The “scarlet” listed here is not necessarily speaking of an industry from the color of scarlet. If it is, then scarlet what? The Greek word is “Kokkinos” meaning crimson in color, which is taken from the word “kokkos” which means “grain, or seed”. In this context of industrious enterprises, it does not refer to color, but grains, or seeds. So the Papacy controls the industry of agriculture, of which the entire world depends upon. These industries listed in Revelation 18, all can have a practical use in life. This is why there is so much of a demand for them. From the very birth of Papal Rome, this was understood by them, through Pagan Rome. Listen to this quote by J.N. Andrews: “In the early part of the fourth century occurred an event which could not have been foreseen, but which threw an immense weight in favor of Sunday into the balances already trembling between the rival institutions, the Sabbath of the Lord and the festival of the sun. This was nothing less than an edict from the throne of the Roman Empire in behalf of "the venerable day of the sun." It was issued by the emperor Constantine in A.D. 321, and is thus expressed:-

"Let all the judges and town people, and the occupation of all trades rest on the venerable day of the sun; but let those who are situated in the country, freely and at full liberty attend to the business of agriculture; because it often happens that no other day is so fit for sowing corn and planting vines; lest, the critical moment being let slip, men should lose the commodities granted by Heaven. Given the seventh day of March; Crispus and Constantine being consuls, each of them for the second time."

Of this law, a high authority thus speaks:-

"It was Constantine the Great who first made a law for the proper observance of Sunday; and who, according to Eusebius, appointed it should be regularly celebrated throughout the Roman Empire. Before him, and even in his time, they observed the Jewish Sabbath, as well as Sunday; both to satisfy the law of Moses, and to imitate the apostles who used to meet together on the first day. By Constantine's law, promulgated in 321, it was decreed that for the future the Sunday should be kept as a day of rest in all cities and towns; but he allowed the country people to follow their work." John Nevins Andrews, History of the Sabbath and the First day of the Week, p. 341, 342.

So from the very inception of the Papacy, they controlled the most practical of commodities, which is agriculture, by law. All true wealth comes from the ground, and Rome understood this. It is striking that many of God’s people living in the Antitypical Day of Atonement, do not see the benefit of this practical occupation, when Papal Rome saw it from their early days, see Luke 16:8.

2. Does prophecy in connection with the third angel’s message, tell us anything about agriculture? Revelation 13:15-17

The most practical of human needs is food. If we are in a position now, in which we buy all of our food, these scriptures should alarm us, if we can not “buy”, except we have the mark of Rome, which is Sunday observance. These texts should compel us, to seek a country property, in which we can grow our own food. “Slothful servants are increasing the evil by their lazy habits. Many are unwilling to earn their bread by the sweat of their brow, and they refuse to till the soil. But the earth has blessings hidden in her depths for those who have courage and will and perseverance to gather her treasures. Fathers and mothers who possess a piece of land and a comfortable home are kings and queens.” Ellen G. White, Country Living, p. 18.

“Again and again the Lord has instructed that our people are to take their families away from the cities, into the country, where they can raise their own provisions; for in the future the problem of buying and selling will be a very serious one. We should now begin to heed the instruction given us over and over again: Get out of the cities into rural districts, where the houses are not crowded closely together, and where you will be free from the interference of enemies.”--Letter 5, 1904. Country Living, p. 9.

If we continue to depend upon grocery stores, we could be in a position where we may be tempted to receive the “mark of the beast”, because we want to eat and feed our families. Rome is in control of the inter-continental commerce of the world, as it relates to food and other commodities. They can work through the United Nations to block certain nations from receiving goods, if they do not comply with their agenda, and create food shortages, used to make the price of food higher and still higher. “The United Nations warned, this past Friday, that millions of people are now at risk after food prices hit their highest level ever and global wheat stocks fell to 175.2 million tons from 196.7 million tons a year ago. Global corn stocks may be at 127.3 million tons at the end of this season, compared with last month’s USDA outlook for 130 million tons; and global soybean inventories will drop to 58.78 million tons at the end of this season, from 60.4 million tons a year earlier.” Pilgrims Rest, Art. “World Food Crisis: Spring 2011”, February 2011, Publication. Agricultural products (food), are essentially the main purpose for a “no buy, no sell” decree, to force people to except the Sunday law, because they understand that food is a necessity, and people will do whatever it takes to obtain it, including selling out Jesus Christ and His Law. If our minds are focused on the necessity of food, we will not be able to give the loud cry, in that time when probation is just about to close. This is why now, we must secure a country property, and grow our own food, and preserve enough for at least a year ahead. For we do not know how long the crisis will last (little time of trouble), until we have to flee our country homes, and go into the mountains and caves (Jacob’s time of trouble).

3. Since prophecy in connection with the third angel’s message compels us to be involved with agriculture, then water becomes very important in our search for land. Has God revealed in His Word the practical country living skill of finding water on the land? Genesis 26:19, Exodus 7:19, 24

Notice that Isaac’s servants dug in the “valley”. A valley is an area of land that is lower than the area around it. The water in the land around the valley flows down into the valley, like into a bowl. This is God’s law of gravity. This is why lakes and rivers are in valleys.

In the Exodus text above, the streams, rivers, and ponds, were turned into blood. The reason the Egyptians dug round about the river for water, is because they understood the water in the river, seeps into the ground around the river. Blood is thicker than water. This means it travels and seeps through soil slower, than water. They knew the blood would not seep out quickly around the river, contaminating the water in the earth around the river.

Water obeys God’s Law of Gravity. From the springs in the mountains, traveling down by streams into lakes, and rivers in the valleys, and out to the oceans. So when looking for water on your property, look to dig on the lower areas of the land where the water somewhat settles, before seeping out again. Another good sign to look for, in searching where the water is on a piece of land, is looking where the vapor rises in the morning. Rise up early in the morning, and go to the highest area on the property if possible. Look around for a foggy mist. Wherever you see the thickest fog, most likely water is either on the surface of the land, or not to far under. Pagan Roman soldiers did this when then traveled in their conquering, and found water. Mossy areas are also a sign of water below the surface of the land. Avoid buying land that has too much water, such as swamps or marshland, otherwise known as wetland. Here are some plants you may want to look for; “Reeds signify the existence of good quality water very close to the surface. Rushes and Cattails are a sign of marshland or of water very near the surface. Pickleweed indicates the presence of salt water at or just below the surface. Black greasewood generally means that mineralized water exists 10-40 ft. down. Saltbrush indicates water near the surface, but the quality may be poor. Rabbit brush will grow only where water is no more than 15 ft. below the ground. Mesquite indicates that water is to be found from 10 to 50ft. beneath the ground. Elderberry shrubs are a fairly good sign that there is water about 10 ft. down.” Back to Basics, How to Learn And Enjoy Traditional American Skills, Second Edition, p. 12.

When digging for water in a well, don’t be dismayed if at first you find a little water. Give it some time, and the well may fill. "When we visited the place in November 1, 1904, we found that much had been done during the summer. . . . Our great anxiety about the place was the matter of an ample supply of water. . . . The great question was, can we get plenty of water by digging? The well diggers had gone down eighty feet, and found a little water, but they wanted much more. O, how much depended upon our finding plenty of good pure water. . . . From the beginning I had felt the assurance that the Lord would open the way for our work to advance; but who could tell when and how? Our people were deeply desirous of seeing the sanitarium make a success, and as we met them, the question was, Have you found water? . . . The next morning Brother Palmer came up early to tell me that there was fourteen feet of water in the well. The water is soft and pure, and we are greatly rejoiced to know that there is an abundant supply. This well is a treasure more valuable than gold or silver or precious stones. . . .” Ellen G. White, Loma Linda messages, p. 482.

4. Does the Papacy control the oil industry, in which people use for fuel in heating their homes? Revelation 18:13. Yes.

5. Has God provided something practical that we can use in heating our homes, to avoid dependency on the Papal controlled heating industry? Ezekiel 15:6

Concerning firewood, the Lord has specifically said, “I have given to the fire for fuel..” In searching for land, look for trees you can use for fire wood. If you have your own trees for fire wood on your property, you will be free from the fluctuations in prices of oil and gas for heating, in which Rome uses to create dependency on their system.

The best trees for firewood are “hardwood trees”, also known as deciduous trees. It is very easy to recognize these trees. These are trees that lose their leaves in the autumn and winter, but come back in the spring. Among these are trees such as Oak, Maple, Birch, Aspen, Beech, Ash, Tamarack, Black Cherry, Willow, Elm, Dogwood, and many others. Hardwood trees tend to burn hot and longer than softwood trees. Besides firewood, hardwoods are used to make furniture, finish flooring, and other uses.

“Softwood trees” are called coniferous trees. They are also known as “evergreens”. This is because they have needle like leaves, in which they do not lose in the autumn and winter. They are green all year round. Among these are trees such as Pine, Fir, Spruce, Hemlock, Cedar, Redwood, Douglas Fir, and others. Softwood trees are mostly used to frame homes, because they are easier to handle than the heavier hardwoods, they grow taller and straighter for lumber, and they dry out quicker than hardwoods. Softwoods can be used for firewood, especially for kindling or starting your fire, because they burn so fast. However, if you are using only softwood, be sure to clean your chimney out regularly, because it creates creosote. Creosote is a dark brown or black flammable tar, deposited by wood smoke on the inside walls of the chimney. Clean regularly to avoid a chimney fire. If you create a hot fire, and open the dampers of your wood stove, you can burn away the creosote, and you should be fine. Creosote can also be created with hardwood fires, when the wood has not dried out sufficiently (seasoned). Also when the dampers are closed for too long, and air is not allowed to pass through. Open the dampers, and burn a hot fire. In most cases this should take away the danger from the creosote.

If you exercise caution, you can safely use whatever you have available for firewood. “Anything will serve for our fireplaces. The roots of trees make the best wood to burn. We have four fireplaces in our house and we need not buy wood if time should last long, but this we cannot expect.” Ellen G. White, Manuscript Releases Volume 2, p. 171.

6. Should God’s people living in the Antitypical Day of Atonement, learn how to build their own homes? Isaiah 65:17-19, 21

Yes. Everything we do as Seventh-Day Adventists, is to prepare us for life throughout eternity with God. Before sin was, the Sabbath was kept. We must also keep it now, in preparation for us to keep it in God’s literal Kingdom. It is brought to view in the texts above, that in God’s literal Kingdom, we “shall build houses”. If we shall build them then, it is evident that we, if possible, should learn to build them now. Everything we do, must be preparation for being an inhabitant of God’s literal Kingdom. In building a small home in the country now, you are experiencing eternity in Heaven, then. Even the sons of the prophets knew how to build their own homes, see 2Kings 6:1-4.

7. Can the animals which God has created, help us in preparing for the “no buy, no sell decree” and preaching the third angel’s message? Luke 13:8, 9, Proverbs 31:10-13

In the Luke texts above, animal dung is used to fertilize the soil for the vineyard. “till I shall dig about it, and dung it”. Farm animals are very helpful in this respect. You do not have to have big ones, small ones can be sufficient. Rabbit dung is good for your garden. Chicken dung is high in nitrogen, which helps your plants to grow. Chickens will also eat many of the insects and pests which will destroy your garden. Ducks will eat the insects and pests that the chickens won’t eat. When you cannot buy or sell, God has provided these animals, as natural pesticides, along with other things in nature we can use.

In the Proverbs texts above, wool is sought by a virtuous woman. Sheep’s wool can be used to make your own blankets, clothing, etc. If you have the pasture land for them, it could be a great asset. These things are important because we won’t be able to buy fertilizer for our gardens, or clothing for ourselves, if we plan on not receiving the “mark of the beast” in connection to the “no buy, no sell decree”. These animals help us, and in return the earth feeds them, and us. Taking care of animals also helps our characters to be softened, and cultivates a love for others. This, we desperately need to develop a true desire for souls to be saved, who are actively making plans to persecute us. We need a “true love” for our enemies, in order to give the third angel’s message. Caring for creatures, who react only instinctively, and not in thanksgiving for what we do for them, will definitely cultivate the character of Christ in us, see Romans 5:8.

If we believe that God will do all these things for us, and we do not have to prepare practically for these coming events, we will be lost just as most of the antediluvian world, by not practically preparing the ark, before the flood. Therefore, country living is apart of the life style, of those who give the third angel’s message. By developing practical country living skills, we can be as free as possible, from the economic policies of the papacy’s global scheme.
