Victory in India - Over 775 Baptized!

Evangelism News

God is so good! We are so very thankful to God for the souls that decided for baptism on this trip. This mission trip to Kolkuta, India will go down as one of the most memorable and challenging mission trips so far. Nonetheless, it was a great, life-changing blessing! We all learned many valuable lessons on this trip. I will not here dwell upon the challenges and lessons from this trip. However, I would like to thank God especially for His grace and Pastor Ron Goss of Project Restore for sponsoring this trip. I would also like to thank Pastor Ron Watts of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for his support to the people of India. And finally, I would like to thank Haige Velasco, Pastors David Vikas, Nirmal Manna, Dr. Sanchia, and the twenty-five (25) bible workers and volunteers in Kolkuta, West Bengal, India for their hard work and dedication to the success of this mission trip. This mission trip was indeed a group effort. Every person was vital to its success.

Island South 24 Paraganas, Sundarban

India's Lifestyle & Culture As we journeyed to our first meeting site, I couldn’t help but notice the unique culture and life-style of the people on this Island. The Sundarban area is an island located in the west Bengal state of India. It has a large population of people who are dedicated to the Hindu religion. They live a very simple life and have many hard battles to fight such as poverty, sickness, disease, and hard labor. The Sundarban people are very industrious; building their homes out of bamboo, clay, bricks, and straw. I found the people of this area to be very nice and sacrificial. The women work hard at keeping the home and raising the children, while the men work in the rice and potato fields or in the market selling and exporting goods.

One thing I found most interesting was how closely the Sundarban culture compares to the culture of the new-testament. From the activity in the market place, to the selection of employees, the drawing of water from the well, the marriage ceremony, and much more all tends to relate to the biblical culture of the new-testament with amazing accuracy. read more>>

Nightly Evangelism Meetings and Children’s Program

India's Nightly Meetings & Health Lectures  Every day we had a 1 1/2 hour journey from our hotel to the meetings site. We left at 3:30pm in order to make time to visit as many families within each village as we could. In every home we visited we found some need that called for our help. Many were very grateful for the daily visitations. Sometimes we would just sing a song about Jesus with our translators in the Bengali dialect. Other times we would share a group picture and prayer with each family member.

At approximately 6:30pm we commenced our nightly meetings with a children’s program. Many of the children wanted to learn English so we taught them Christian songs in the English language. We taught such songs as “Jesus Loves Me”, “With Jesus in the Family”, “Deep and Wide”, and many others. It was such a joy to hear the children signing these songs and clapping their hands as we would arrive to the meeting site each day. We also conducted a health and hygiene class at 7:00pm before the gospel messages. Sister Haige Velasco taught the principles of hygiene in a very simple and practical way utilizing many visitors as volunteers to demonstrate. Then we had a power-point bible lesson on many stories in the bible that helped to illustrate the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our average attendance each night was between 800-1100 visitors. All were very grateful to hear the good news of God’s grace through Jesus Christ for the very first time. Much to our surprise, many responded gladly to the Holy Spirit’s call to accept the truth as it is in Jesus.

Baptisms and Life-Changes

India's Baptisms & Life Changes We had a group of about 25 bible workers and volunteers working in two different sites preparing the people for baptism. I made a call every night to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and center of life and worship. Many would signify acceptance by raising their hands. Finally, on the last night at each location I made a general call for baptism and full surrender to Christ. A total of 775 people were baptized. In spite of the great challenges and barriers within their life and culture, we believe God’s mercy and love has been recognized and accepted among many of these humble, sincere people. Let us continue to pray that God’s grace and abundant blessings might richly fortify and seal every decision for eternity.

Follow-up Evangelism Plan

We will continue working the ten (10) bible workers to nurture and follow-up with the newly baptized. In addition to that, Pastor Vikas is willing to donate his property for the construction of two church schools. Several of the newly baptized candidates have offered to donate their property for the construction of two churches. Note the pictures of the property being donated. In order for our BBM team to build the schools we need $15,000. We have the workers and access to all the material for this project, but as of today we do not have the budget. Each school will cost $7,500 in labor and material.

Also, we are planning another follow-up trip in January 2012. Our purpose for the follow-up trip is to provide more resources (bibles, literature, reading books for children) in their dialect to the bible workers. We also see the need to train the bible workers in door to door evangelism and medical missionary work. Many people are sick and many have diseases. Most of the many health problems we have seen can be prevented by a careful regard for natural law. We are planning to share these principles and teach the bible workers to teach others. As of now, our greatest need is the financial support for the construction of two (2) schools. Also, we need more skilled people to go with us on the next trip. If you know how to cook vegetarian meals for groups of 10 or more. If you have medical, dental, teaching, or technical skills please fill out the form below so we may get you on the list for our next mission trip. God is calling for a full surrender of our time, talents, and fiancial resources. Help us now by making a committment to this mission project. India's Donated Property for School You'll be glad you did!

The work of the Lord requires hands to strengthen the weak. Why not volunteer today.

It is important that you chose an essay writing company that has a good reputation and offers pay4essayonline.blogspot.com this site for work online. Furthermore, your papers must be done by a professional writer with good skills. Short of this, someone will mess with your work.
