1. What kind of industries, are controlled by the Papacy? Revelation 18:3, 10-13

These industries deal in commodities, that almost all nations of the earth make use of. Notice that these commodities have one very important thing in common. They are primarily produced from the earth. Out of the 28 commodities listed, 15 of them have to do with agriculture. That is more than half the list. If you are wondering what the “purple” industry is, the Greek word is “porphura”. It means a “garment”, dyed with the color purple. The implication is the “garment” that is dyed purple. And what is the garment dyed purple made of? It is the “linen” listed before the purple. “Linen” is made from flax, which is an agricultural product. The “scarlet” listed here is not necessarily speaking of an industry from the color of scarlet. If it is, then scarlet what? The Greek word is “Kokkinos” meaning crimson in color, which is taken from the word “kokkos” which means “grain, or seed”. In this context of industrious enterprises, it does not refer to color, but grains, or seeds. So the Papacy controls the industry of agriculture, of which the entire world depends upon. These industries listed in Revelation 18, all can have a practical use in life. This is why there is so much of a demand for them. From the very birth of Papal Rome, this was understood by them, through Pagan Rome. Listen to this quote by J.N. Andrews: “In the early part of the fourth century occurred an event which could not have been foreseen, but which threw an immense weight in favor of Sunday into the balances already trembling between the rival institutions, the Sabbath of the Lord and the festival of the sun. This was nothing less than an edict from the throne of the Roman Empire in behalf of "the venerable day of the sun." It was issued by the emperor Constantine in A.D. 321, and is thus expressed:-

"Let all the judges and town people, and the occupation of all trades rest on the venerable day of the sun; but let those who are situated in the country, freely and at full liberty attend to the business of agriculture; because it often happens that no other day is so fit for sowing corn and planting vines; lest, the critical moment being let slip, men should lose the commodities granted by Heaven. Given the seventh day of March; Crispus and Constantine being consuls, each of them for the second time."

Of this law, a high authority thus speaks:-

"It was Constantine the Great who first made a law for the proper observance of Sunday; and who, according to Eusebius, appointed it should be regularly celebrated throughout the Roman Empire. Before him, and even in his time, they observed the Jewish Sabbath, as well as Sunday; both to satisfy the law of Moses, and to imitate the apostles who used to meet together on the first day. By Constantine's law, promulgated in 321, it was decreed that for the future the Sunday should be kept as a day of rest in all cities and towns; but he allowed the country people to follow their work." John Nevins Andrews, History of the Sabbath and the First day of the Week, p. 341, 342.

So from the very inception of the Papacy, they controlled the most practical of commodities, which is agriculture, by law. All true wealth comes from the ground, and Rome understood this. It is striking that many of God’s people living in the Antitypical Day of Atonement, do not see the benefit of this practical occupation, when Papal Rome saw it from their early days, see Luke 16:8.

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Rom. 12:2

Many of the diseases from which men suffer are the result of mental depression. Grief, anxiety, discontent, remorse, guilt, distrust, all tend to break down the life forces and to invite decay and death.  {MH 241.1} 
     Disease is sometimes produced, and is often greatly aggravated, by the imagination. Many are lifelong invalids who might be well if they only thought so. Many imagine that every slight exposure will cause illness, and the evil effect is produced because it is expected. Many die from disease the cause of which is wholly imaginary.  {MH 241.2} 
     Courage, hope, faith, sympathy, love, promote health and prolong life. A contented mind, a cheerful spirit, is health to the body and strength to the soul. "A merry [rejoicing] heart doeth good like a medicine." Proverbs 17:22.  {MH 241.3} 
     In the treatment of the sick the effect of mental influence should not be overlooked. Rightly used, this influence affords one of the most effective agencies for combating disease.

David's Powerful Testimony of God's Works!

In Psalms 111, David is talking with God and prasing Him for His wonderful works. David loves to give praises to God and Jesus Christ for His wonderful mercy. Anyone who has ever been delivered from a powerful addiction will, like David, give praises to God for His wonderful works.

"Praise ye the Lord. I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. 2. The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. 3. His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4. He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion. 5. He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant. 6. He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen. 7. The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. 8. They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. 9. He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. 10. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever." Psalms 111:1-10

Every sinful desire that we cherish affords satan the right to reck our lives, destroy our families, and disunite the Church of the living God.

The Apostle Paul, a General in Battle

"A general slain in battle is lost to his army, but his death gives no additional strength to the enemy. But when a man of prominence joins the opposing force, not only are his services lost, but those to whom he joins himself gain a decided advantage. Saul of Tarsus, on his way to Damascus, might easily have been struck dead by the Lord, and much strength would have been withdrawn from the persecuting power. But God in His providence not only spared Saul's life, but converted him, thus transferring a champion from the side of the enemy to the side of Christ. An eloquent speaker and a severe critic, Paul, with his stern purpose and undaunted courage, possessed the very qualifications needed in the early church." Acts of Apostles p. 124

Paul's example in the book of Acts says:

"But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:" Acts 9:15

"For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard." Acts 22:15
